Conor: Mint and orange will break my bones, but splinters will never hurt me? I don't remember any negative physical effects from the tanbark playage... but I do remember getting yelled at by my dad for ruining the neat pile.

And sadly, the extent of excitement in high school chem was me trying to figure out excuses to leave early. Not a hands-on science fan. Even when we made honeycomb, it tasted off. Hmph.

Those bark shavings can be nasty if you come to grief on them (and really, how could you not come to grief on them when playing in a massive pile of them) - a lovely combination of scrapes and splinters.

Still, scrapes and splinters can be easily fixed. Lifelong aversions to mint and orange? Not so much.

I am afraid to think of what you got up to in the chem labs at school.

Yes it was the no protein that was a problem with rice milk as a baby food (and it was a baby from memory, less than 12 months old when it died), and they were using it as the sole dietary intake. Poor little tyke.

Mutually-beneficial rice pudding makerage - I like it! And with the rice milk thing... I'm guessing they fed the baby little else *but* rice milk? I used to drink it and quite liked it, but switched back to soy because rice milk has almost no protein, and I was told to stick with the protein option.

I've never had rice milk, and I think I have a thing about it not being fit for human consumption as two ridiculous people fed their baby on it a few years ago and the baby died. I do realise that one batch of rice pudding doesn't exactly equal a total diet for months, but still you know- That stuff killed a baby!

Mothers being what they are she was delighted to make me rice pudding to help aid my recovery! She used a recipe in the current masterchef magazine, and she was excited about that as she'd only ever done baked rice pudding before and not a stove top one. AND she got to play with sushi rice (it worked really well- but it does soak up a lot of liquid and you would need to use more than the recipe quantities) and that vanilla paste stuff. So it was really a favour to her that she got to make it for me. I finished it off for breakfast this morning actually, and feel my recovery is now complete.

I love that you disregarded instructions and just drank down the essential oils. But my dear, what was wrong with you - to think that you didn't need cookies? COOKIES, HANNAH COOKIES. I hope that you learnt your lesson from that day onwards - you ALWAYS need cookies!
