Jumping back in time to mid-January, L.FoodieStarbright, L.MiteMaster and I followed up our bibimbap and Korean grocery store explorations with a trip to Fairfax’s Shilla Bakery. As I’m a little bit pressed for time at the moment (hangin’ out with the band and actors by the hotel pool until the early hours of this morning made for a slightly later morning than usual, and I’ve got places to go, musical theatre groupie things to do!), I shall leave you with the following photos…

haha they packed so many goodies into one little cake!
Great looking bakery! The chocolate parfait looks so fluffy and good.. and the ‘Jewerly Box’- adorable!!
Meant to say before, doncha just love saying bibimbap – it’s one of the best food words around I reckon…
Yes! The first time I ordered it, I had no idea what it was — I just wanted an excuse to say it, and figured that something with such a fantastic name couldn’t possibly be bad.
My favourite food words, in no particular order: bibimbap, watercress, meringue, horseradish, fudge, pickle, honeycomb.
I could go on and on…this constitutes a blog post in itself, I think!
Hehe that spelling mistake would drive my mum nuts. She’d take a red pen to it I bet!
Grace: They surely did – and I just realised I forgot to mention, in the caption, the cookies stuck to the outside ganache as well!
Tori: They both are quite attractive, aren’t they? I wouldn’t mind being given this kind of “jewerly” for my birthday/Christmas/etc
Whisperinggums: It is a fun word – and I have this odd feeling it was in that bizarre rap song I did at Music School all those many, many summers ago!
L-Izzle: Good idea for a blog post! I may use it…
I also love that your favourite food words constitute deliciousness – pickles, horseradish, meringues (especially the peppermint ones I made for my birthday – tasted like candy canes!), watercress…
Lorraine: Your mum and I would probably get along well, then! I’ve often considered editing/proof-reading as a career, and once thought I might create the position of restaurant-menu-fixer-upperer just so I can fill it!
I dreaded her getting that red pen out seriously! lol Now she makes mistakes on email. I wonder if I could use that strikethough as a red pen replacement?
hey LOL you’re right, I didn’t even notice that
they really got enthusiastic about that little cake hahaha
Lorraine: Teehee, that would be so naughty of you (but hilarious)! I used to dread my extended family’s inevitable tirades against Americanised pronunciations (that’s pro-NUN, not pro-NOUN, by the way
) of words in Australia at our regular dinners… but now I just join in
Grace: Haha, yes, the bakers seemed to be thinking “Chocolate is good – chuck it in! Mousse is good – add that! I like cookies – why not put some of those on too?” etc etc
